The team finished the regular game standings at 6-0, allowing only two runs per game including four shutouts. For the regular game schedule, their scores were:

In the first round of the 104-team single elimination tournament, BC Athletics made it to the quarterfinals before dropping a game to Team Club. Their tournament scores were:

BC Athletics 10 Swam Baseball 2
Team Clutch 7 BC Athletics 3

For the entire week, BC Athletics scored 120 runs while only giving up 25.

“Our primary thing is not chasing trophies to mark us as an organization,” Carroll said. “It’s about what we going to do with the time we have. And what are we going to do to impact the culture that’s different than what most people do.”

After his baseball career ended, Carroll gravitated toward coaching when he realized he had a passion to help kids.

He later launched BC Athletics, an organization whose goal is to “Build players skills from the inside out.” BC Athletics provides baseball camps, lessons and team access to their training facility.

The weekend started out with a 15-0 win over Thunder Cardinal. The team finished out pool play with an 8-3 win against Tennessee Bombers.

In the semifinals, BC Athletics had a rematch with Tennessee Bombers and won 4-1.

To close out the tournament, BC Athletics beat KnoxSox 13-1 to win the Fall State Title.

Overall, “What I’m doing now is bringing some of that fun back into kids playing the game,” Carroll said, adding that he stresses to his young players “not to get down if you make a mistake. … Teaching them to respond to failure in a way that keeps them moving forward.”

 

While teaching all aspects of the game, which also includes pitching, fielding and catching, Carroll is assisted by Andy Bass (played with Chicago White Sox, pitching instructor), Shawn Hughes (former college coach, hitting and catching) and Bill Ballou (pitching).”

 

Providing softball instruction is Dave O’Brien, who also doubles as “facility manager,” Carroll said.

 

Carroll and wife, Heather, were caring for two young children by the end of his pro baseball career in 2014 (11 seasons). “I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do after playing. … I love people and, of course, I love the game. I’ve played it since I was 4,” Carroll said.

 

“… In that transition time I was doing some lessons, actually held a couple of camps, and I found kind of a natural passion and enjoyment of being around the kids and passing on some of the things that I’ve learned and just really try to impact these kids in the game and off the field as well.
